Podcasting in Plain English

Use in Your Classroom
Aside from the regular podcast page on iTunes, you need to spend some time searching through iTunesU. iTunesU is amazing! It is dedicated to education - but fon't let the "U" fool you. There is plenty of material here for our high school students.

There are SO many free pod/vodcasts available in EVERY subject area. For example:
  • AP Teachers – Lectures from ivy league college professors are posted
  • Current Events - Hate Channel1? Look for the daily CNN Student News vodcasts; it's under 10 minutes and commercial free!
  • Art - Interviews with artists and virtual tours of muesems
  • Math and Science - Demos abound!

Practicalities
  • PROOF THE POD/VODCAST FIRST YOURSELF!!!!!!!
  • Assign students to listen to or watch the assigned pod/vodcast before, during or after working on a new topic for critique or discussion
  • Need sub plans? Use existing pod/vodcasts to explain new material
  • Want to make your OWN pod/vodcasts? You need a little editing experience, but Rachel would be glad to help.
